Our Team
Montie is a Co-founder, Managing Principal & the Chief Opportunity Officer (COO) of Blue Moon Partners, LLC, overseeing investments, project selection, due diligence, execution & management. Until 2022, he was also an actively-licensed SC real estate advisor for 10+ years, primarily focused on the commercial and hospitality sector, along with being a Sr. Business Advisor with MJD Group, Inc, a tax and business advisory business based out of Greenville, SC. After completing his undergraduate degree from The University of Georgia (BBA Finance, 1999) and having several years of experience in the corporate world of finance and investments with large publicly-traded national and global corporations, Mr. Desai returned to academia earning a graduate business degree from Clemson University (MBA, 2008), with a focus in Real Estate. Montie was also a Managing Partner of a Greenville, SC based real estate brokerage from 2011-2015, which he sold in 2015 to solely focus on growing the Blue Moon portfolio. Having a financial analysis and brokerage background, Mr. Desai has been involved with all facets of various real estate & hospitality transactions while leading the company into its next chapters. In addition to the above, Montie’s role with Blue Moon Partners is being actively involved in maintaining and developing investor relations, 3rd party professional & vendor relationships, equity funding and allocation, along with active guidance in deal-structuring. Mukund is a Co-founder, Managing Principal & the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Blue Moon Partners, LLC. Along with developing, managing and investing in hotel projects, Mr. Desai, a Chartered Account from India, will be celebrating 50 years as a business entrepreneur in 2022. While practicing as a tax consultant for the past 40+ years with international accounting experience, Mr. Desai served as founder and President of MJD Group, Inc., a tax and advisory firm based in Greenville, SC, which he divested in 2020. Mr. Desai continues to utilize his vast experience to offer specialized business consulting on a highly discretionary & limited basis since the sale of his practice. Mr. Desai has participated in all aspects on over 100+ hotel & real estate transactions along with an experienced background. Prior to opening his accounting and tax practice and actively engaging in the hotel ownership arena, Mr. Desai was a corporate controller for several years for a large and well-known global hotel company based out of Greenville, SC, playing an integral part in growing their portfolio, which now consists of over 50+ properties + F&B concepts. In addition to overseeing the company financials, Mr. Desai’s primary role with Blue Moon Partners involves equity sourcing, investor relations, and deal-structuring.
